Renting a car is a common practice for travelers looking to explore new destinations with the freedom and flexibility that only a personal vehicle can provide. Car rental agencies are often relied upon for their convenience, allowing millions of people each year to experience new places at their own pace. However, not every rental experience goes as smoothly as planned. Unfortunately, one of our clients recently encountered a troubling situation with Noleggiare, a car rental agency in Sicily, and their story serves as a warning for others.
A client has shared their unfortunate experience with Noleggiare car rental agency in Sicily, which serves as a warning to others who may consider renting from them. The client had booked a vehicle for pickup at Catania Airport on 29th July 2024, with plans to return it on 7th August 2024. Unfortunately, things took a negative turn right from the start.
Upon arrival, the client reported encountering a highly unprofessional attitude from the Noleggiare employee at the rental counter. The first vehicle provided had an engine problem, necessitating an immediate return. The replacement car was deliberately parked next to a pole on its right side, with a strong sun glare making it nearly impossible for the client to conduct a thorough inspection for any existing damage. As a result, the client could only take photos from a distance, without the opportunity to closely examine the vehicle’s condition.
When the client returned the car, the same employee conducted a detailed inspection of the vehicle. After checking for damages, the employee immediately pointed out a dent on the right rear wing — the very side that had been obscured during the initial pick-up. The client was charged €350 for the damage, plus an additional €80 commission fee for the insurance company. The client suspects that the damage was pre-existing and intentionally hidden from view.
This experience serves as a cautionary tale for anyone renting a vehicle from Noleggiare. The client advises future customers to be vigilant and ensure they have clear, close-up photos of every part of the vehicle, especially in poor lighting conditions or if any obstacles are present.
